The Story of Prophet Yusuf (A.S.)* – The Best of Stories (Ahsan-ul-Qasas)

Prophet Yusuf (A.S.) was the beloved son of Prophet Yaqub (Jacob, A.S.). One night, young Yusuf saw a strange and beautiful dream. He told his father:

> *"O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars, the sun, and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me."*

> (Surah Yusuf, Ayah 4)

Yaqub (A.S.) understood that this was no ordinary dream – Allah had destined greatness for Yusuf.

 Jealousy of the Brothers

Yusuf's brothers became extremely jealous of him because their father loved him dearly. They plotted against him and decided to get rid of him.

Eventually, they threw him into a deep well and lied to their father:

> *"A wolf ate him."*

 From Slave to Leader

A passing caravan found Yusuf (A.S.) in the well and took him to Egypt, where he was sold as a slave. He ended up in the house of the minister of Egypt.

There, another test awaited him — the minister’s wife tried to seduce him. But Yusuf (A.S.) refused and said:

> *"I seek refuge in Allah!"*

> (Surah Yusuf, Ayah 23)

Even though he was innocent, he was thrown into prison.

 From Prison to Power

In prison, Yusuf (A.S.) interpreted the dreams of two inmates. Later, when the king of Egypt had a troubling dream, Yusuf was called to interpret it — and he gave such a wise explanation that he was freed and appointed as a trusted advisor to the king.

Yusuf (A.S.) rose from a prisoner to the *minister of Egypt*, in charge of the nation’s food during a great famine.

The Dream Comes True

Years later, his brothers came to Egypt to get food. They didn’t recognize Yusuf, but he recognized them.

Eventually, he revealed his identity and forgave them completely:

> *"There is no blame on you today. May Allah forgive you. He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."*

> (Surah Yusuf, Ayah 92)

Then his parents and brothers bowed before him in respect — just like the dream he saw in childhood. *The dream had come true.*

 Lessons:

Patience (Sabr)* is never wasted.

Jealousy (Hasad)* leads to destruction.

Trusting Allah* brings honor from even the lowest places.

Avoiding sin* leads to elevation.

Forgiveness* is the greatest victory.
