An Islamic Story of Hazrat Umar Ibn Khittab (RA)
Hazrat umar
ibne Khittab (RA) the second caliph of
Rashidun caliphate . He was among the
most respected
companions of the
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) , Who dedicated his entire life to service of Islam.
His life is a shining example of justice ,piety humility , and strong
leadership . There are many insipiring incidents from his life , and here is
one famous and deeply moving story :
The night patrol and a lesson in justice :
Hazrat umar (RA)
,despite being the ruler of the Islamic state , use to patrol the streets of
Madinah at night to observe the condition of his people firsthand .
one night , while on
his usual round, he heard the sound of crying children coming from a small
hut. Curios and concerned , he stopped
and listened carefully . The crying continued , and he noticed a women was a
sitting near a fire, apparently cooking
something .
Hazrat umar(RA)
approached and asked gently :
"why are the
children crying ?"
The women replied
:
"They are
hungry .i have nothing to feed them ,so
i am boiling water
with a few stones just to make them thing food is being cooking ,in the hope
that they will fall as sleep waiting
."
Hearing this , tears
field Hazrat Umar(RA) eyes.
he immediately went
to the public treasury , collected a sack of flour, dates ghee, and other
supplies ,and carried the heavy load himself back to the women 's house .
His servant, seeing
this , said :
"O Ameer -ul-
Mu'Mineen please allow me to carry it for you ."
Hazrat umar (RA)
replied"
"will you carry my burden on the day of judgment too?"
When the reached women 's house ,Hazrat Umar (RA) personally cooked the food and served it to
the children .
When the children
began to laugh and play after eating , Hazrat Umar(RA) Smiled with relief and
said :
"Now Umar can sleep in peace , knowing that these children are no
longer crying from hungry ."
